DR. RICHARD VEERAPEN FRCSEd(SN), Ph.D.

Dr. Richard Veerapen is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Neurosurgery (retd.)

Since moving to Canada in 2004 he has pursued graduate studies and offered medlegal consulting services. Most recently he was the Clinical Director and Medicolegal Consultant (Western Canada) for Cira Health Solutions, an Independent Medical Examination company.

He is also an Adjunct Asst. Professor, School of Health Informations Science, University of Victoria, and Sessional Lecturer at the UVic School of Public Health and Social Policy

Dr. Veerapen has more than 15 years of experience with personal injury and medical malpractice consulting, primarily in British Columbia, working with claims adjusters and managers as well as plaintiff and defense counsel.

In 2010 he was qualified by the Supreme Court of BC as an expert witness in neurosurgery.

Having been a clinical director with a Canadian national IME company, he is familiar with the specific expertise of hundreds of medical assessors in BC and Alberta. He has authored medlegal articles for the publications of the BC Paralegal Association and for 'The Verdict', published by the Trial Lawyers Association of BC.

Dr. Veerapen has conducted numerous medlegal and healthcare conflict management lectures and workshops in Victoria, BC, and in Malaysia, India, Singapore and the Bahamas
